PLEASE HELP US “BUY SOME TIME”

Food Train Glasgow ensures hundreds of older people across the city do not go without lifeline grocery food shopping and meal supplies, but the service faces closure at the end of March without urgent funding support.

Glasgow City Council announced on January 12th, 2023, that they were withdrawing all our funding. They have supported our service for the past 10 years.  This will leave more than 400 older people across Glasgow City without a service to deliver their food shopping, meal support and befriending activities.

Since the announcement we have been in talks with various partnerships and funders to seek alternative funding, we have written to all Glasgow MSP's, MP's and Councillors urging them to help, and we have set up a petition, which now has 5069 signatories from our supporters.

With a month to go before our funding from Glasgow City Council ends, we are still trying to keep our doors open. We have recently sold our minibus which was used to take our older members out for meals and befriending trips. However, the funds raised from this sale will only allow us to keep the grocery shopping service running until the end of April.

We need help to “BUY MORE TIME” to take us into the summer.  We have a couple of funding applications pending but won’t know the outcome for a few months.  We’d be so grateful if you could help us keep Glasgow Food Train open.  If each person who signed our petition could donate £8.86 we’d have enough funds to stay open until the summer.

Glasgow City council have let our older members down, but we are still fighting for them! If you can, please help us “BUY SOME TIME” and if you have already donated, thank you very much.

Thanks again for supporting this cause.
